Brian Hoblit MBA 07 has joined the executive team at Lamplighter Financial as the company’s chief financial officer. It’s a new chapter in his 10-year career in finance and business development.
Founded by Hoblit’s fellow alumnus Brian Woodall MBA 06, Lamplighter is a “financial watchman” that offers expertise in finance, accounting and capital-raising transactions to help small businesses and private equity firms anticipate investor needs and use the finance function to manage their business.
Hoblit was most previously a vice president and relationship manager in the Commercial Banking Group at River City Bank in Sacramento, Calif. Prior to that, he served in a similar role with the Commercial Banking Group at Wells Fargo, was the co-founder and director of finance of a high-tech startup that started at the Graduate School of Management, and served as director of business development for a clean-tech startup in Folsom, Calif.
Hoblit’s advocacy for, and commitment to, the School was recently recognized with the GSM Alumni Association’s Award for Outstanding Service. Elected commencement speaker by his classmates in 2007, Hoblit went on to serve on the alumni association’s board of directors for six years, including two years as president. He was instrumental in reorganizing the association’s focus on alumni engagement and fundraising, and led key initiatives to drive and track alumni volunteerism, revamp the board committees and strengthen the Class Agent program.
In addition, Hoblit has served on the Dean’s Advisory Council—and provides support and advice to students through informational interviews, mentoring and as an Alumni Ambassador to newly admitted students.
